Investigations Into Recent Spate of Fires in Pembroke Parish Still Ongoing

Detective Inspector Derricka Burns stated: “Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department, have conducted a number of enquiries into these incidents.
It has been confirmed that the fires were deliberately set, including the recent fire at Pigs Field playground which had damages estimated at approximately $60,000.
Officers have arrested one person in connection with the playground incident.
More arrests are anticipated.”

The public is reminded that under the COVID-19 Emergency Powers 'Stay at Home' Regulations 2021, persons will not be allowed access to the following:
• The railway trails.
• All public parks.
• All public beaches.
• All playgrounds.
• All golf courses.
Members of the public are not allowed to use these areas for recreational purposes or to exercise.
Persons who fail to comply with these restrictions could be faced with a fine of six thousand dollars for a first offence.
A second offence could lead to a fine of ten thousand dollars and or three months’ imprisonment.
Pedal Cycling and Stay at Home Restrictions

Assistant Commissioner of Police Martin Weekes - "The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) wishes to remind the public that as with the previous 'Shelter in Place' Regulations from 2020, the 2021 'Stay at Home' Regulations specifically prohibit the use of pedal cycles for recreation/exercise on Bermuda’s highways.
If however your pedal cycle is your normal mode of transport and you are using it to go to and from work or attend a permitted business/medical appointment, then that use is allowed under the current regulations as if you were using a car or motorcycle.
The BPS reminds the public that under the current regulations, exercise has been restricted to within a one kilometre radius of your home, on foot by yourself or with one other household member."
BPS, BRP & RBR Committed to Joint Working and Proportionate Enforcement of COVID-19 Regulations

Assistant Commissioner of Police Martin Weekes wishes to commend the vast majority of residents who are following the relevant COVID-19 protocols and reaffirmed the role of the Bermuda Police Service (BPS). “The BPS working alongside our partners in the Royal Bermuda Regiment (RBR) and the Bermuda Reserve Police (BRP), remains committed to proportionate enforcement of the COVID-19 regulations and commends the vast majority of residents who continue to comply. Our primary goal is to help keep residents safe during this pandemic. However, anyone found violating the rules should expect to appear in court. Therefore, I urge everyone to do their part and abide by the regulations.
During the latest stay at home order, which goes into effect at 5am Tuesday, 13th April you can expect to see joint working with all three agencies across the island as well as the Bermuda Coastguard on the water. We will be conducting compliance checks, safety checks on the roads and curfew checks at night. Please ensure you take note of all Government guidance available to ensure that you do not fall outside of these regulations and give yourselves plenty of time to get home before curfew.”

Appeal for Witnesses to Three Weekend Incidents

Car Overturned - Around 5:55 p.m. on Friday, 9th April 2021, police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision on Middle Road, Southampton.
The vehicle was traveling west in the vicinity of Industrial Park, when the driver reportedly swayed onto the opposite side of the road and struck a wall, causing the car to flip on its roof.
The driver complained of pain to his ribs, back and neck.
He was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to his injuries which were not considered life-threatening.
Arrest Made & Investigation Underway After Reported Breach of COVID-19 Regulations

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of a video circulating showing officers effecting an arrest at a location in Pembroke.
The arrest took place after officers responded to reports of a COVID breach where an estimated 30 people were gathered in an enclosed premises, reportedly not wearing masks or practising social distancing.
Upon police arrival, several persons attempted to leave the scene, others were found hiding inside the premises.
One individual became aggressive and when warned about his actions became even more confrontational towards officers who attempted to arrest him.
Because of the subject’s aggressive behaviour, there was a use of force proportional to the situation faced by our officers.
Other party-goers began confronting our officers who moved to disperse them, warning that they too faced being arrested.
Our officers produced their tasers in an effort to get the group to comply.
At no time were tasers deployed, even as the officers were outnumbered and at risk. The video depicts only what happened after the arrest and not what led to it.

Help Us Bring Jordan Outerbridge's Killers to Justice

Detective Superintendent Nicholas Pedro, Officer in Charge, Serious Crime Unit - "The Bermuda Police Service would like to recognise the important work done by the Gang Violence Reduction Team, who have assisted in quelling serious gang activity over the past several years, activity that many in the public will not be aware of.
The Serious Crime Unit is currently looking at all the evidence in the case, and regrettably, we are of the view that the cruel killing of Mr. Jordan Outerbridge, a loving husband and father, was gang related.
Whilst we do not hold the view that Mr. Outerbridge is or was affiliated with any gang, or gang activity, we are confident his killers were part of an organized and criminal gang.
Serious Collision Tuesday Night Not Linked to Jordan Outerbridge Murder

Detctive Superintendent Nicholas Pedro - "The Serious Crime Unit is continuing its investigations into the brutal murder of Mr. Jordan Outerbridge (pictured) on the Railway Trail, Warwick, on the night of Tuesday 6th April.
A full complement of detectives has been interviewing witnesses, and reviewing forensic & digital evidence in the wake of his death.
We are grateful to those who have had the courage to come forward so far, and still wish to speak to anyone who feels they can assist.
The investigation continues to prove challenging as we work to identify a possible motive for his death, and we are also examining the possibility that this may have been a case of mistaken identity.
This continues to be an incredibly difficult time for Mr. Outerbridge’s family and friends and we are continuing to support them through this tragic event.
We can also report that we have been able to exclude the road traffic collision that occurred in a similar time frame on Middle Road near the entrance to Belmont, as being linked to the shooting. We note that there has been a lot of social media chatter suggesting that these two events were connected, we have been able to negate this.
