Industrial Accident in St. George's

Shortly after 8:00 a.m. today, Monday 22nd March, 2021, police attended a report of an industrial accident in the area of the St. Regis Hotel property in St. George’s.
Reports are a crane was being moved along nearby Barry Road when a mechanical failure occurred, causing it to topple over down an embankment and onto the property.
The crane landed on its side, with the operator trapped inside.
Bermuda Fire and Rescue personnel assisted in extracting the operator, who sustained a non-life threatening leg injury, for which he received attention at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and discharged.

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS), is investigating the alleged assault of a Department of Public Transportation bus operator which reportedly occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday 16th March, 2021, at the junction of St. David’s and Battery Roads, St. George's.
The operator was driving bus 2K802 along Tommy Fox Road when the suspect boarded.
The suspect allegedly became abusive towards children who were on the bus.
The operator stopped the vehicle and asked the suspect to get off.
The suspect is understood to have then punched and kicked the bus operator about the body.
Renewed Appeal on One Year Anniversary of Clarke Fox Murder

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is renewing our appeal for information in connection with the murder of Clarke Fox and the attempted murder of 
Kyari Flood.
Mr. Fox (pictured) was fatally shot and Mr. Flood wounded, one year ago, on Tuesday the 17th of March 2020, in broad daylight on Court Street in Pembroke. The two suspects were on a dark coloured motorcycle; the rider was wearing a light coloured sweat top, blue jeans, multi-coloured sneakers, gloves and a dark coloured full faced helmet – while the passenger was wearing a dark coloured jacket, dark coloured pants, dark sneakers, a white helmet with tinted full faced visor and was in possession of a firearm.
The suspect motorcycle travelled south on Court Street and the pillion passenger discharged multiple shots towards Mr. Fox and Mr. Flood (the two victims) who were standing near the junction of Court Street and Elliot Street, Pembroke. The two victims ran south on Court Street towards Dundonald Street, as the suspect vehicle pursued them and the passenger continued to discharge the weapon in their direction. In an attempt to flee the shooter, Mr. Fox and Mr. Flood turned around and ran north on Court Street, heading back towards Elliot Street. The suspect motorcycle turned around and continued to pursue Mr. Fox and Mr. Flood, with the pillion passenger continuing to discharge the firearm in the direction of the two victims. The suspects then made good their escape on the dark coloured motorcycle, traveling west on Elliot Street, leaving the area.
Mr. Fox was transported to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Mr. Flood was also transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.
COVID-19 Regulations Breach at East End Guest Property

Around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday 14th March, 2021, police attended a noise complaint at an east-end guest property.
On arrival, officers found a birthday party in progress with approximately 34 people in attendance.
Martin Weekes, Assistant Commissioner of Police said: “Based on the officers’ observations, the manager of the property was advised that the event was in breach of COVID-19 regulations and needed to end.
The event organiser was instructed by the property manager to end the party and that all guests were to vacate the premises.
The organiser, a forty-year-old woman, has been reported for prosecution.
BPS Aware of Social Media Messages Regarding Paedophile

Assistant Commissioner of Police Antoine Daniels – “The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is aware of social media messages currently circulating regarding a paedophile frequenting the Fort Hamilton area, which includes a description of the individual.
The BPS is also aware of the individual in question, but cautions members of the public against sending such messages via social media – and instead, encourages the prompt reporting of any suspicious behaviour in your neighbourhood to 211, or 911 in an emergency.
Residents are reminded that any acts of vigilante justice – in relation to any alleged or actual incident – that come to the attention of the police, will be appropriately investigated.”
Witness Appeal After 6 Vehicles Destroyed in Rambling Lane Fire

The Bermuda Police Service responded with the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service to the scene of a fire that occurred during the early hours of this morning (Thursday, March 11th). Firefighters extinguished the flames shortly after their arrival. The blaze destroyed a car and five motorcycles parked outside a Rambling Lane, Pembroke residence.
Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Please be advised Bermuda Police Service along with the Transport Control Department, will conduct traffic operations in the eastern and western parishes on Thursday 11th March, as well as on Friday 12th March, 2021.
These exercises will target persons who are operating vehicles in violation of the Motor Car Act and the Road Traffic Act.
The selected areas will offer the least disruption to members of the public, but maximize the effectiveness of the operation.
Advisory Regarding a Dangerous Practise on Bermuda's Roads

The Bermuda Police Service, (BPS), has been made aware of a dangerous practise in which groups of individuals, mainly young males perform wheelies on pedal cycles as well as motorcycles, while riding against the flow of traffic, particularly on main roads.
Such behaviour could result in serious injury, or worse. Not to mention property damage.
The Bermuda Police encourages parents and guardians to speak with their children about the dangers of this activity and advise them against participating in it.
Commissioner Corbishley Recognises International Women’s Day 2021

Commissioner of Police Stephen Corbishley – Today is International Women’s Day, a key opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of women across the world and the contributions they've made to social, economic, cultural and political advancements.
The theme for this year’s International Women's Day is #ChooseToChallenge, highlighting that a “challenged world is an alert world, and from challenge comes change”.
Whilst International Women’s day is a celebration I also consider it should be a reminder to shine a light on women, young and old, that are prevented from leading a life that is safe but instead find themselves vulnerable from issues of abuse or exploitation.
