Collision - Around 8am on Wednesday January 25th, Police responded to a reported collision at the junction of South Road and Brighton Hill Road in Devonshire. It appears that a motorcycle was travelling along South Road when it collided at the junction with a car that was travelling along Brighton Hill. The rider of the motorcycle, an 18 year old Warwick was injured; however his injuries are not believed to be serious. The driver of the car, a 43 year old Devonshire man was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Around 10:30am on Wednesday, January 25th police responded to a report of gunshots in the Mount Hill, Pembroke area. No one was injured; however the suspects stole a blue motocross cycle from the scene and fled, heading in a westerly direction. Police pursued the suspects into the western parishes and are appealing for any witnesses, anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Mount Hill area or anyone with any information to contact the main police number 295-0011 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.
The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the deaths of 59 year old Mustafa Abdul Hadee of Smith’s parish and 58 year old Mikal Williams of St. George’s parish.
Around 12:20am on Tuesday, January 24th police, including the Marine Unit and first responders, as well as the pilot boat St. David promptly attended a report of a boat sinking in the waters off St. David’s Head, St. George’s with two men onboard.
Around 11am on Monday, January 23rd police were alerted to four men wearing black clothing acting suspiciously around homes in the Schools Drive, Devonshire area. Officers immediately responded to the scene and located the suspects, who attempted to flee on foot. After pursuing the alleged perpetrators through the neighbourhood, a 17 year old Pembroke man was apprehended nearby in possession of suspected stolen property. Inquiries into this matter are ongoing.
Collisions - Around 5pm on Monday January 23rd, police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision near the junction of Mangrove Bay Road and Ferry Lane in Sandys. It appears that a motorcycle was travelling along Mangrove Bay Road when it collided with a sidewalk. The rider, a 66 year old Sandys man was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. At last check he was in stable condition on a general ward. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.
Impaired Driver - Around 3:30am on Sunday January 22nd, police officers on mobile patrol along Middle Road, Paget noticed a car that was driving in an erratic manner near the junction with Chapel Road. The driver, a 37 year old Warwick man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving as a result. He subsequently failed the alco-analyser test and was detained in police custody. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
At 2:20am on Saturday 21st January, 2012, uniform officers arrested an 18 year old male from Pembroke, in Sandys Parish.
The male, Dameko Dublin, was wanted by police in connection with the recovery of an illegal firearm in Devonshire Parish in November of last year. Mr. Dublin appeared in Hamilton Magistrates Court at 10:00am today, charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (Firearm) and Possession of Ammunition.
Missing Juvenile: Leshun Wolffe Found - The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating 16 year old Leshun Wolffe. He returned safe and well Sunday afternoon.
The Commissioner of Police as well as the Commandant of the Reserve Police is pleased to announce the recent
promotion of six Reserve Police officers which took place at 4:30pm Friday, January 20th at Police Headquarters in Prospect Devonshire. His Excellency the Governor Sir Richard Gozney and other senior police officers were also on hand for the promotion ceremony.
Stolen Vehicle - On Thursday January 19th, police received a report of a vehicle taken without its owner’s consent. It appears that between 12 noon on Friday January 6th and 12 noon on Thursday January 19th a car was taken from outside a Southcote Road, Paget residence. The vehicle is described as a white Mitsubishi Lancer bearing license plate number 18193. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.
