Damage Only RTC/Impaired Driving

At 9:45pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported damage only road traffic collision at the junction of Church Street and Burnaby Street in the City of Hamilton. It appears that a Mazda car was traveling north on Burnaby Street and a Suzuki jeep was traveling east on Church Street when they collided at the junction.

Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 58 year old William Massop. It appears that Mr. Massop went swimming off the North Shore at Spanish Point Park in Pembroke around 5:50pm on Monday. He was located by a member of the public a short time later on the sea floor. The body of the Pembroke man was brought to land and CPR performed, but the victim was unresponsive.

Counterfeit Currency

At 2:05am on Sunday, Police attended the East Broadway Shell Service Station on Crow Lane in Pembroke after a report of two counterfeit U.S. $50 dollar bills being passed. It appears that around 11pm on Saturday, a man approached the cashier to pay for his gas and handed her a U.S. $50 dollar note. The suspect was given his change and then left the Service Station.

Assault

Around 10:45pm on Saturday, Police received a report of an assault on Fentons Drive in Pembroke. The victim, a 34 year old man employed at Four Star Pizza, stated that he left Four Star Pizza in Flatts to make a delivery at a Fentons Drive residence. As he parked his motorcycle and walked to the residence, he was approached by 4 or 5 young men.

Attempted Robbery

Breaking & Entering

Around 2:25pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a First Avenue, Devonshire residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that sometime between 1:20pm and 2pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into their home. The culprit stole a wallet containing $500 in cash and several items of jewelry. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Impaired Driving

At 3:50 this morning, Police on mobile patrol on Middle Road in Devonshire observed a motorcycle turning on to Orange Valley Road without its headlight on. The officers caused the motorcycle to stop and spoke with the rider, a 22 year old Hamilton parish man. He was subsequently arrested for suspicion of impaired driving, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained.

Around 12:20 this morning, Police attended a report of a car on fire at a Hartle Drive, Sandy’s parish residence. The Bermuda Fire Service also attended. On the arrival of Police officers and firefighters at the scene, the fire had already been extinguished. The complainants stated that they were alerted to the fire by a neighbour around 12:15am. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
