“The Bermuda Police Service welcomes the community interest and input on matters affecting crime in our community and we have read, with interest, the Study on Crime produced by the Bermuda Alliance for Tourism (BAT). The Bermuda Police Service wishes to make it clear that at no time have we issued any advisory to the effect that a portion of the South Road is, as the Study reported, “a major danger area for tourists” and the Service is not of the view that the stretch of South Road referred to poses a major danger to tourists. Indeed there are a number of issues raised in the Study which the Commissioner wishes to discuss with the Executive Director of the Bermuda Alliance for Tourism, Mr. Wayne Smith and they have agreed to meet on June 22nd. The Service is particularly interested in exploiting any further opportunities to work with BAT on the implementation of recommendations where there is a mutual interest.”
