Sudden Death

Around 9:45am on Friday, Police received a report of a sudden death at a Huntley Lane, Sandy’s parish residence. The deceased, 71 year old Eula Stewart Watson of Sandy’s parish was found in an unresponsive state inside her home by a member of the public. Following an autopsy, it was determined that she died of natural causes.

At 9pm on Thursday, an off duty Police officer was at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) on Queen Street in the City of Hamilton when he observed a group of young men gathered on the sidewalk outside the restaurant. As the off duty officer watched, two of the young men began to fight one another and at one point during the scuffle both men entered KFC.

Breaking & Entering

At 11:15pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a St. George’s guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that sometime between 6:40pm and 10:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into their apartment. The culprit stole 2 Motorola cellular phones, 1 Samsung cellular phone, 2 U.S. passports, 2 U.S. Airways plane tickets and personal items.

New Police Boat

The Bermuda Police Service has just signed a contract for the purchase of a new Police vessel, designed to head up the Marine Police fleet and replace our current ‘Blue Heron’.

This is not a recent initiative, but has been the subject of many hours of research and discussion to establish a vessel to fulfill certain roles within the Police maritime area of responsibility.

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 24 year old Annette Farkas. Ms. Farkas, a Canadian national, sustained serious head injuries in a road traffic collision on North Street in Pembroke around 9:20pm on Monday involving a motorcycle and an auxiliary cycle.

Around 9:20pm on Monday, Police attended a reported serious road traffic collision on North Street in Pembroke involving an auxiliary cycle and a motorcycle. It appears that the auxiliary cycle was traveling west on North Street near the House of India when the motorcycle which was traveling in the opposite direction attempted a right turn across the path of the auxiliary cycle, causing a collision.

The Fraud Unit is aware of reports from overseas that indicate a number of bogus websites are being set up, with the aim of soliciting donations to assist with the disaster caused by Hurricane Katrina in the U.S.A. These websites are fraudulent.

At 8:45 this morning, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Crow Lane and Lane Hill in Pembroke. It appears that a heavy truck was traveling west along Crow Lane when the driver attempted to make a u-turn on to Lane Hill. As a result the truck fell over, landing on its left side. At 12:35am on Saturday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Harbour Road and Cobbs Hill Road in Warwick involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that the car was traveling west on Harbour Road when the rider of the motorcycle which was traveling in the opposite direction lost control, causing a collision.
