The Bermuda Police Service wishes to inform local businesses of a current fraudulent practice that is being perpetrated by individuals from overseas. A local business has been faxed photocopies of credit cards accompanied by an overseas passport photo identification, with a request to purchase a high value item.
At 6 this morning, Police responded to a report of a man found in an unresponsive state at a Hill Crescent, Spanish Point Pembroke residence. The victim, a 53 year old Pembroke man, was pronounced dead at the scene by an on call physician a short time later. No further information will be released until the next of kin is notified.
Breaking & Entering
The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 53 year old Michael Eugene Smith of Pembroke. Mr. Smith was found in an unresponsive state at 6 this morning at a Hill Crescent, Pembroke residence and was pronounced dead a short time later. He was last seen alive at 1pm on Tuesday, December 20, 2005. Police are appealing for anyone who may have information on Mr.
Around 10:25am on Monday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at an Ocean Sands Drive, Warwick residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 7pm and 7:15pm on Sunday, an unknown culprit gained entry into her apartment. The culprit stole $250 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 7:05 this morning, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at Rock Island Coffee on Reid Street in the City of Hamilton. On arrival officers spoke with the manager who stated that sometime between 5pm on Saturday and 6:25am today, an unknown culprit gained entry into the premises. The culprit stole $150 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
At 2:15pm on Friday, Police attended a reported robbery on Border Lane North in Devonshire near the junction with Orchard Grove. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 66 year old Warwick man, who stated that he was walking in the area when an unknown man approached him from behind and placed him in a headlock, dragging him to the ground.
Around 10:30pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported handbag snatch on Middle Road in Southampton, near the junction with Munro Lane. The victims, a 31 year old Sandy's parish man and a 28 year old Sandy's parish woman, stated that they were riding west on Middle Road when two men on a motorcycle rode alongside them.
At 12:30pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Sunset Lane, Pembroke residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 8:30am and 12 noon that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home. The culprit stole a black IBM laptop and a 13" flat screen Panasonic TV. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
At 2:20pm on Tuesday, a uniformed Police officer was on his lunch break at the Market Place on Church Street in the City of Hamilton when he was approached by the store's manager about a suspected shoplifter. The Police officer accompanied the store manager to the elevator, where the suspect was observed to have a knapsack in his possession containing food and a six pack of beer.
At 10am on Monday, Police attended a reported attempted handbag snatch at the junction of South Road and Southcote Road in Paget. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 38 year old Paget woman, who stated that around 9:30am she parked her car at her Southcote Road, Paget residence and went inside.
