At 12:30 this morning, Police attended a reported disturbance at the Bermuda College in Paget. On arrival officers had cause to stop and search a car with four occupants. The search revealed a machete in the trunk of the vehicle.
The Bermuda Police Service is saddened by the death of former Commissioner of Police Lennett Edwards QPM, CPM. Mr. Edwards served as Commissioner of Police from 1992 - 1995, a post that he held with distinction. He was well respected as an officer and a friend.
Around 7:15 this morning, Police received a report of a serious single vehicle road traffic collision on Parsons Lane in Devonshire. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling east on Parsons Lane when the rider, an 18 year old Devonshire man, lost control and collided with a tree.
Around 10:05pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Langton Hill in Pembroke. It appears that the truck was traveling south, down Langton Hill when the driver, a 43 year old man, lost control and collided with a wall. As a result the truck turned over on to its right side, trapping him inside the vehicle.
Police are investigating a road traffic collision that took place around 7:45pm on Friday, May 6, 2005 involving two Police vehicles (unmarked cars) and a motorcycle carrying two people, west of the entrance to A1 on Middle Road in Paget. The two Police vehicles were traveling west (emergency) and the motorcycle entered the westbound lane from a private entrance.
Around 7:20pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Somerset Road in Sandy's parish near the junction with the Railway Trail, involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling south-west on Somerset Road when the car entered Somerset Road from the Railway Trail and the two vehicles collided.
The Bermuda Police Service Fraud Unit is aware of a new lottery scam that is currently in circulation around the island. The letter, which appears to be from a European country, claims that the recipient has won a cash prize and must provide personal information (including copies of a passport and/or driver's license) as well as banking details in order to receive their winnings.
At 2:55 this morning, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Seabright Avenue, Paget residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that around 2:30am they were awoken by a loud noise inside the house.
The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 59 year old Franklyn Belboda of Warwick. Officers were on mobile patrol when they discovered Mr. Belboda in an unresponsive state inside a vehicle parked on Barry Road, St. George's at 10:30pm on Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene by an on call physician at 12:34am today.
