Over the weekend there were 3 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 7 reported burglaries (4 in Sandys parish and 3 in Warwick). There were also 18 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 10 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 16 vehicles reported taken without their owners consent.
Around 8:35am on Saturday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Camp Lane, Warwick residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 5:45pm and 6:50pm on Friday, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Police responded to a report of a burglary at Arlington Avenue in Pembroke.On arrival Police spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 9pm on Monday and 7:30am on Tuesday, it appears that someone gained entry into his dwelling and stole a safe containing jewelry, cash, and personal documents.
Police responded to a report of a serious assault that occurred beside Cross Bay Beach, Sonesta Drive, Southampton sometime around 9:00pm on Tuesday 7th August 2007. It is believed there was a crowd of approximately twenty people in the area when the 18 year old victim was struck on the back of the neck with what is believed to be a machete. The strike caused a deep laceration; however, the victim managed to make his way to a nearby residence where the emergency services were alerted.
At 4:15pm on Monday, 4 divers boarded a vessel and traveled approximately 2 miles out to the South West Breakers to go diving. Around 5:35pm the divers surfaced only to discover that their boat had drifted off. The group decided to swim back to shore; however one of the divers, a 58 year old Sandy’s parish woman, ran into difficulty. She was aided by the other 3 divers who managed to make their way back to shore a few minutes before 6pm. The divers managed to summon a resident who lived on the property near the shoreline who subsequently called 911. The paramedics came for the Sandy’s parish woman and rushed her to KEMH via ambulance in an unresponsive state.
