Burglary Suspect Arrested

Around 2:30am on Saturday, January 31st police officers on mobile patrol in the City of Hamilton were alerted to an apparent burglary of a business in the Church Street, Washington Lane area by a member of the public.

A 56 year old Pembroke man located at the scene was arrested in connection with this matter and a court appearance is anticipated in due course.

Sudden Death of Richard Perry

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 59 year old Richard Perry of Paget and extends condolences to his family and friends.

Around 11:15pm on Saturday, January 31st first responders were dispatched to a reported fire at a Bostock Hill West, Paget residence.

Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel gained entry into the lower apartment and extricated Mr. Perry, who was unresponsive.

Suspected Impaired Driver: Car Collides With Wall in Devonshire

Around 6pm on Thursday, January 29th first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle collision at the junction of Middle Road and Christ Church Lane in Devonshire.

It appears that a car was being driven along Middle Road when it collided with a wall.

Scheduled Central Parishes Community Outreach Clinics Postponed

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that the ‘Meet Your Community Action Team (CAT) Officers’ – Police Community Outreach Clinics for Pembroke and Paget residents, originally scheduled for 12 noon to 4pm Saturday, 31st January 2015 at C-Mart in Pembroke and Rural Hill Plaza in Paget respectively, have been postponed.

The public will be notified of the new details for these community clinics in due course.

Over the weekend police officers arrested three people on suspicion of impaired driving as the Selective Traffic Enforcement Programme (STEP) continues.

Officers also arrested 18 people for outstanding warrants and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.

They have included observations about the long term effects of serious injuries resulting from collisions, the costs attached to healthcare and insurance, and the high number of collisions relative to the size of our population.

Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva was on hand at the event, themed ‘Service Above Self’, to receive the award at the Fairmont Southampton Resort - along with several other police officers representing various aspects of policing.

Ninth Annual Paul Marsden Memorial Rugby Game Sunday

The 9th Annual Paul Marsden Memorial Rugby game will be taking place this Sunday 18th January 2015 at 3:30pm at National Sports Complex south pitch.

As a reminder Paul Marsden was Police Constable 2206 who tragically died on the rugby field while playing rugby for the Bermuda Police Rugby Club against Mariners RFC on 22nd January 2006.

Reported Two Vehicle Collision in Devonshire

Around 4:15pm on Thursday, January 15th first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision on South Road in Devonshire, in the area of Kent Avenue and Tee Street.

It appears that a motorcycle was being ridden along South Road and a car was exiting Kent Avenue when the vehicles collided.
