Serious Collision on South Road in Southampton [Updated]

Around 03:15am on Saturd 26th March, police and other first responders were dispatched to a report of a serious single vehicle collision on South Road near the entrance to Church Bay, Southampton.
Details are very limited however a man on a motorcycle was traveling along South Road, in an unknown direction, when it appears he lost control of the cycle.
He was conveyed to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious head injuries.
Traffic diversions were put in place while officers processes the scene.
Anyone who may have been in the area around this time and witnessed this collision is urged to contact police on 211 or 295-0011.

Around 11:35pm on Friday 25th March, police and other first responders were dispatched to a report of a serious single vehicle collision on Beacon Hill Rd, Sandys.
Early information suggests that a 42 year old woman was traveling east along Beacon Hill when she attempted to negotiate a right hand bend and lost control of her vehicle, before colliding with a tree.
She was transported to King Edward Memorial Hospital. The extent of her injuries is not known at this time, however her injuries are believed to be serious.
Anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed this collision is urged to contact police on 211 or 295-0011.
Update: Saturday, 26th March - Two road fatalities confirmed following two separate serious collisions late Friday night and early Saturday morning.
Confirmed Firearms Incident, Deepdale Pembroke Area: No One Injured

Around 5:15 p.m. today, Wednesday, 23rd March, 2022, police received a 911 call of gunshots in the One Way Deepdale area of Pembroke.
Information is a suspect came to the area on foot, via a bushy patch which links to Two Way Deepdale, discharged a firearm and left in the direction from which he came.
CCTV was reviewed and showed the gunman and a second suspect on a motorcycle leave the area headed in a westerly direction towards Parsons Road.
Both suspects reportedly wore dark clothing and ski masks.
Units from Tactical Division and officers from the Forensic Support Unit attended, searched and processed the scene.
Anyone with information on this matter is asked to call 211, the main police number, 295-0011 or, Crime Stoppers on 800-8477.
Alternatively, you may share the information with a police officer with whom you are familiar.
Police Aware of Concerning Image Circulating on Social Media

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of an image that is circulating depicting two males in dark helmets carrying what appears to be firearms outside a private residence.
Acting Superintendent Peter Stableford said,
“The image is extremely concerning and potentially represents a serious risk to the personal safety of persons potentially being targeted by those observed in the video images. The BPS are conducting investigations into this matter to identify the individuals and to prevent any further escalation. The image is believed to have been taken last night and should not be circulated as it could potentially create and/or increase fear within our community, as well as undermine the police investigation into what happened. Although the BPS are encouraging persons to desist from sharing the footage any further we are seeking assistance from those persons who have actually viewed the image and can provide any specific information whether or not you believe it to be significant.
Persons are encouraged to call the police on 211, the Serious Crime unit on 247-1439, the confidential Crime Stoppers hot line on 800-8477, or me personally on 717-2286, it will be treated in absolute confidence.”
Road Traffic Collision Involving Two Motorcycles on Front Street [Updated]

[Boy's age corrected] A 12-year-old boy has been transported to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment after he was rendered unresponsive following a road traffic collision on Front Street, in the City of Hamilton.
The incident occurred shortly after 1:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, 23rd March, 2022, near the junction with Burnaby Street.
It is understood the boy was the pillion passenger on a motorcycle which was exiting the number two car park after traffic had stopped to allow them out.
Reports are that as the bike on which the boy was travelling turned east on Front Street, it was struck by another bike overtaking a line of traffic, headed west on Front Street.
The 12-year-old who was unresponsive for a short period following the crash, was attended to at the scene by EMTs and subsequently transported to hospital via ambulance.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Neither rider was hurt.
There was a minor disruption to traffic flow in the area while the scene was forensically processed.
Police are seeking the public’s assistance with their investigation into this matter and anyone with information is asked to call 211 or, the main police number, 295-0011.
Update: Friday, 25th March - The 12-year-old boy who was a pillion passenger on a motorcycle that was involved in a collision with another motorcycle on Front Street, in the City of Hamilton around 1pm Wednesday, 23rd March 2022 has since been discharged from the hospital. Any witnesses that have not yet come forward are now encouraged to call Constable Justina Watson on 211 or e-mail jwatson@bps.bm.
Stolen Tools Advisory

The Bermuda Police Service, has been receiving increased reports of tools being stolen from tool sheds and vehicles. With that in mind we thought we would share with you some tips that would assist in preventing you falling victim to such incidents.
Secure your tool shed with a high quality padlock and hardened steel security chain. Cheap padlocks and cable locks can be easily removed with a bolt cutter. Hardened-steel security chain and high-quality padlocks provide much better protection as thieves can’t easily cut through them.
A heavy-duty tool box should also be a consideration. You may want to remove the casters or, purchase one without casters and set it on the ground. That way thieves can’t simply roll it away.
Unless you plan on selling them on, another method of securing your tools would be to alter their appearance. Remove the brand name plate (but leave the plate containing the tool’s serial number). Next, have your name or, in the case of contractors, your company’s name or some other easily identifiable mark engraved in a prominent area on your tools. You may also use paint pens and seal with a clear lacquer spray. These markings would make it difficult for a thief to sell your stolen property.
Remove the battery and charger from your power tools and store them separately. Stolen battery-powered tools are more difficult to sell, if they don’t include the battery and charger, thus making them less attractive to thieves.
Vans are often targeted by thieves for the tools stored inside. If you have to leave tools in a van overnight, consider using a lockable cabinet within your van to store tools.
Finally take photographs of these valuable items, make a note of the serial numbers.
Members of the public are advised, if you are approached by anyone selling tools or any other items for that matter, make sure that you are shown proper proof of ownership of the item being sold, so as to avoid falling victim to purchasing stolen goods. If you suspect the items are stolen, you should contact 211 or the main police number, 295-0011 and provide a description of the person selling the items as well as the items being offered for sale.
You should also be aware that under the Criminal Code Act 1907, “A person guilty of handling stolen goods shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine of $10,000 or to imprisonment for five years or both; and on conviction on indictment, to a fine of $150,000 or imprisonment for fourteen years, or both.”
Sudden Death of 89-Year-Old James H. Brown

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 89-year-old James H. Brown and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Mr. Brown, a Devon Spring Lane resident, was seriously injured in a fire at his Devonshire home around 5:30pm Thursday, 17th March 2022 and subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital that evening.
The cause of this fatal fire remains under investigation and once again, anyone with relevant information is encouraged to call 247-1744 or 211 as soon as possible.
Reported Missing Person: 59-Year-Old Amtina Tweed [Located]

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 59-year-old Amtina Tweed.
Ms. Tweed, apparently also known as Tina, is described as dark complexioned, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing around 140 pounds and was last seen in the Marsh Lane, Pembroke area.
She is said to frequent City of Hamilton areas including Victoria Park, the public library on Queen Street and Angle Street in the vicinity of Fish & Tings.
There is concern for Ms. Tweed’s wellbeing, as it is reported that she has not been seen or heard from in the past 48 hours.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of 59-year-old Amtina (Tina) Tweed is encouraged to call 211 or the main police number, 295-0011 as soon as possible.

Sudden Death of 89-Year-Old Man Seriously Injured in Apartment Fire [Updated]

Sadly, the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) can confirm that the 89-year-old man seriously injured in a fire at a Devonshire apartment building Thursday, 17th March 2022 was subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital Thursday evening.
The Devon Spring Lane resident was extracted from the building by firefighters, who performed CPR on the senior citizen at the scene – but ultimately, he succumbed to his injuries.
Official identification of the deceased is anticipated in due course, pending next of kin notification.
The site was held overnight until the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service Fire Investigator and the BPS Forensic Support Unit processed it this morning (Friday, 18th March).
The BPS is also aware of videos circulating of the incident, with one in particular showing the firefighters performing CPR on the seriously hurt 89-year-old man outside the building – and appeal to members of the public not to further circulate video of the lifesaving efforts, out of respect for the deceased’s family.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and anyone with relevant information is encouraged to call 247-1744 or 211 as soon as possible.

Confirmed Firearm Incident, No Reported Injuries: Deepdale, Pembroke

Around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday 17th March, 2022, police received reports of gunshots in the Deepdale, Pembroke area.
Callers to the 911 emergency number indicated two males on a dark coloured cycle rode in a southerly direction up One Way Deepdale and fired a single shot.
The rider was reportedly wearing a black jacket. The pillion passenger was described as a heavy set male, wearing grey track pants with a black jacket.
There were no injuries reported.
