Police are appealing for witnesses to a single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Harbour Road in Paget, near Red Hole which occurred around 8 this morning. It appears that the female driver of a black Renault car was traveling west on Harbour Road when she lost control of the vehicle attempting to negotiate a left hand bend.

Burglary

At 7:15pm on Monday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Knapton Close, Smith's parish residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 2:30pm and 5pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home. The culprit stole a laptop computer, a camcorder, U.S. $200 in cash, U.K. 50 pounds in cash, a radio and a pair of pearl stud earrings.

At 2:50 this morning, Police attended an alarm activation at the Gosling's Warehouse on Dundonald Street in Pembroke. On arrival officers observed a man on the property who attempted to make good his escape. However, officers gave chase and apprehended the suspect, a 36 year old Southampton man.

At 3pm today, Police received a report of a serious single vehicle road traffic collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Trinity Church Road.

Fatal RTC

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 53 year old Michael James Douglas of Pembroke. Around 4:45pm on Friday, Police attended a fatal road traffic collision at the junction of Bishop Spencer Road and Palmetto Road in Pembroke, involving a pedal cycle and a truck.

Robbery

At 5:10 this morning, Police received a report of a robbery. The victim, a 46 year old taxi driver from Pembroke, picked up two men on One Way Deep Dale in Pembroke and drove them to the Ice Queen in Paget. At Ice Queen a third man got into the taxi. The taxi driver then drove the three men to Hermitage Road in Devonshire, where he was instructed to stop.

At 5:20 this morning, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Warwick, near the junction with Tamarind Vale. It appears that a white Mitsubishi taxi was traveling east on Middle Road when the driver, a 53 year old Pembroke man lost control of the vehicle, mounting the sidewalk and colliding with a boulder.

A specific initiative is underway by the Bermuda Police Service in conjunction with the Transport Control Department (TCD) to enforce the laws regarding vehicles on our roads. On Tuesday, May 2, 2006 the following traffic checks were conducted, resulting in several tickets being issued to motorists.

Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 65 year old Everest Mello of Southampton. At 9:30 this morning, Police attended a reported sudden death at a Granaway Heights Road, Southampton residence. Mr. Mello was found in an unresponsive state inside the home by a friend and subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by an on call physician at 11:30am.

Changes At The Bermuda International Airport

The 2006 summer airline schedule shows there will be between 20 and 26 flights each day. This increase in flights and passenger load will put a strain on the parking resources at the Bermuda International Airport (BIA) requiring the parking regulations there to be strictly enforced.
