Injury RTC - At 9:40pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Palmetto Road and Border Lane North in Pembroke involving a truck and a motorcycle. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling west on Palmetto Road and the truck was exiting Border Lane North when the vehicles collided. The rider of the cycle, a 28 year old Pembroke man, was rushed to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of a head injury, broken right arm & right leg as well as internal injuries. He is currently in critical but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

It appears that the motorcycle was traveling west on Palmetto Road and the truck was exiting Border Lane North when the vehicles collided. The rider of the cycle, a 28 year old Pembroke man, was rushed to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of a head injury, broken right arm & right leg as well as internal injuries. He is currently in critical but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. The driver of the truck, a 39 year old Sandy’s parish man, was not injured. The motorcycle received extensive front end damage while the truck received minor damage to its right side.

Handbag Snatch - Around 8am on Tuesday, Police received a report of a handbag snatch at Clear View Suites & Villas in Hamilton parish. The victim, an 80 year old Hamilton parish woman, stated that around 6:50am that day she walked out of her residence when an unknown man grabbed her handbag and made good his escape running in an easterly direction. The victim was not injured. The handbag contained a quantity of cash and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.

Press Conference Regarding Counterfeit Currency

The Bermuda Police Service, Financial Crime Unit along with the Community Policing Division (Uniform) is investigating a large quantity of US counterfeit $50 notes that are currently circulating around the island. So far early indications are that these notes are being passed at various businesses, mainly night clubs.

We are asking merchants to please be on the lookout for the following US $50 note serial number GF50643268A and to contact Police immediately. We also ask that they take note of the individual or individuals passing the notes.

Injury RTC/Impaired Driving - Around 2:15am on Monday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on The Lane in Paget near the junction with Pomander Road. It appears that a car was traveling east on The Lane when the driver lost control and collided with a wall. Apparently the driver, a 23 year old Pembroke woman and the vehicle’s three passengers all received relatively minor injuries; they were taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The car received extensive front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

March 15 - Weekend Report

Burglary - Around 5:10pm on Friday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Turtle Place, Southampton residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 11am and 4:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a 32” Samsung flat screen TV and a Dell laptop computer. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
