Shoplifting

At 11:50am on Saturday, Police attended a report of shoplifting at A. S. Cooper's on Front Street in the City of Hamilton. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that earlier a man entered the store and took a brown suede & leather ladies handbag before fleeing the premises on foot. The man was pursued by staff; however, he was able to make good his escape by getting in a green taxi parked in the area which sped off. At 2:20pm Police were able to locate the suspect, a 42 year old St. George's man, on Ballast Point Road in St. George's. He was arrested, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Witness Appeal

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the fatal road traffic collision that occurred on Kindley Field Road in St. George's around 12:15am Friday involving a bus and a rental cycle. We are especially interested in speaking with any motorists that were traveling west on Kindley Field Road around the time of the collision. Any witnesses are asked to contact PC Joseph on 295-0011.
