At 2:30 this morning, Police attended a reported attempted robbery. The victims, a 19 year old man and a 23 year old man who are both crew members from the visiting HMS Cumberland, stated that they were on Front Street in the City of Hamilton around 2:10am looking for a place to get some food, when they were approached by a local man who directed them to Island Chicken on Court Street. However, when they got there the restaurant was closed. The suspect then asked for money to get food, but the men refused to give him any. The suspect then walked behind some nearby buildings and returned with a piece of PVC pipe, demanding money. A struggle ensued and as a result the 19 year old man sustained a cut and abrasion above his left eye. He was treated at KEMH for his injury and released. The suspect made good his escape empty handed; however, a 29 year old Pembroke man was arrested in connection with this incident. Inquiries are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
Breaking & Entering
At 1:45pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Hayward Drive, St. George's residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 8:45am and 1:15pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home. The culprit stole $85 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
