Around 9:30pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported robbery on South Road in Southampton. On arrival officers spoke with the victims, a 48 year old man and a 47 year old woman (husband & wife) who are American visitors to the island. Around 8:30pm the visitors left their Southampton hotel to go to a South Road, Southampton restaurant. After dinner the decided to walk east along South Road. As they passed Southampton Rangers Sports Club they were approached by an unknown male. The suspect hit the 48 year old male victim in the back of the head causing him to fall to the ground. A struggle then ensued between the suspect and the male victim, with the victim's wife attempting to intervene. However, passing motorists stopped to assist the visitors and the suspect made good his escape on foot heading west. The suspect is known to the Police. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Disturbance
Around 3:35am on Saturday, Police attended a reported disturbance on Court Street in Pembroke. The victims, a 42 year old Devonshire man and a 43 year old Pembroke man, stated that around 3:15am they were on Court Street when the Pembroke man was attacked by a group of men with crash helmets. The men struck the 43 year old victim about the head and body with the helmets and kicked him. The Devonshire man attempted to intervene and was also assaulted by the group of men. The suspects then made good their escape on foot towards Middletown. There were several people in the area at the time that witnessed the attack but declined to assist Police. Both victims were taken to KEMH, treated for facial injuries and abrasions to their knees and later released. The Devonshire man also discovered that his watch and gold chain were taken during the assault. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
