Over this past weekend there was an increased police presence throughout the Island, which included road checks and monitoring football matches at various football club grounds. Nothing untoward was encountered at any of the football grounds, adequate security was evident and well-behaved spectators were in attendance.
The community has clearly shown that there is no tolerance for anti-social behavior at sporting events and the Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their cooperation during the weekend’s increased police activity.
On Sunday, February 26th police were made aware that a group of men on motorcycles were seen travelling from the east of the Island to the west. This group was allegedly responsible for willful damage of a vehicle in the Ord Road, Paget area but when officers subsequently attempted to stop them, they scattered in the Somerset area. One of the riders, a 23 year old man, however was arrested and remains in police custody.
The police are encouraged that following the request on Friday, February 24th for the public to pass on information regarding convoys of motorcycles that they did just that, leading to this group being dispersed. We would appeal for any further information on who were in this group, and their activity.
Despite this, there is no indication that any altercation or gang-related incident took place at a Southampton sports venue Sunday evening.
Anyone with any information regarding this group of men traveling on motorcycles or anyone who may wish to report any suspicious activity is encouraged to contact the main police number, 295-0011.
