Update: Sudden Death - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 57 year old Michael Wilkinson of St. George’s. It appears that around 11am on Saturday, January 7th a member of the public discovered Mr. Wilkinson’s lifeless body floating in waters near the Swing Bridge in St. George's. He apparently lived on a boat in the area. The Marine Unit and Forensic Support Unit attended the scene and conducted inquiries. As a result, there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances; however an autopsy is anticipated. The Bermuda Police Service extends condolences to the family & friends of Mr. Wilkinson.
Collisions
Around 6:45pm on Saturday, January 7th police and first responders attended a reported collision at the junction of Middle Road and Verdmont Road in Smith’s parish. It appears that a taxi was exiting Verdmont Road and a motorcycle was traveling along Middle Road when the vehicles collided. The motorcycle rider, a 50 year old Warwick man, was injured; however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The taxi driver was not injured. Both vehicles were damaged as a result. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Around 9:20pm on Friday, January 6th police and first responders attended a reported collision in the South Road, Tribe Road #1 (Billy Goat Hill) Warwick area. It appears that a motorcycle and a car were traveling along Tribe Road #1 when the vehicles collided. The motorcycle rider, a 28 year old Warwick man, sustained a leg injury as a result. The car driver was not injured. Both vehicles were damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Around 3pm on Friday, January 6th police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision in the Somerset Road, Scotts Hill Road Sandys parish area. It appears that an auxiliary cycle was traveling in the area when it collided with a wall. The rider, a 55 year old Sandys parish man, received relatively minor injuries and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
