Acting Chief Inspector Mark Clarke - Detectives from the Somerset Criminal Investigations Unit continue to investigate the robbery of a local business located at the ‘Hitching Post’ on Middle Road, Sandys about 8:15am on Wednesday 28th December.

Investigations have revealed that four men targeted a cash delivery van; the guards on the van were ambushed by the suspects, some of whom were brandishing firearms. They forced the guards to get the business operators at the location to open the door, where they were able to steal a quantity of cash in bags.

The company has not been able to give a definitive amount of cash stolen at this time, but they anticipate being able to provide this number very soon.

No one was hurt during this robbery; however the victims are understandably very upset at the incident.

The suspects were dressed in dark clothing, wearing full face helmets with tinted visors, & gloves.

It is believed that the suspects left the location heading west along Middle Road towards Somerset Bridge on motorcycles, at speed.

The police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying these offenders. Anyone with information on this robbery is urged to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigations Unit on 234-1010 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.
