Arrests - Around 12:20am on Tuesday December 20th, officers on mobile patrol observed two men on a motorcycle travelling at speed along Ord Road in Paget. As a result, officers attempted to stop the motorcycle and a chase ensued. During the pursuit, the motorcycle fell to the ground and the rider and pillion passenger ran off. Officers conducted a search of the area and subsequently arrested the pillion passenger, an 18 year old Devonshire man in connection with this incident. He has been detained in police custody pending further inquiries. The motorcycle involved was reported stolen in November 2011 and impounded at the scene. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the rider of the motorcycle to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
Around 1:30pm on Monday December 19th, police responded to a report of two motocross cycles riding at the Arboretum in Devonshire. When officers attempted to stop the vehicles, one motocross cycle escaped onto Montpelier Road, while the other rode into an officer, causing injury. As a result, an 18 year old Pembroke man was arrested and detained pending further inquiries. A court appearance is anticipated in due course. The injured officer was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and later released. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the second motocross cycle rider to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
