Seatbelt Advisory

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to notice children riding in vehicles without wearing seatbelts. We would like to remind parents, guardians and other responsible adults that all children must be adequately secured when riding in a car, van or truck.

  • All children under 12 years old must be secured in the back seat of the vehicle by a seatbelt and/or an age/size appropriate car seat/booster seat.
  • The driver and front seat passenger must be secured by a seat belt while driving in the vehicle.
  • Adult passengers (18 years and over) in the back seat of the vehicle do not have to be secured by a seatbelt.

Police will continue to remain vigilant for any individuals committing seatbelt offences, which are punishable by a fine.

Damage Only RTC

At 1:20pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on Harrington Sound Road in Smith's parish. It appears that a white Mack garbage truck was traveling east on Harrington Sound Road when the driver, a 40 year old Pembroke man, attempted to go under the Manor House Bridge. The top of the compactor struck the bottom of the bridge, causing the garbage truck to turn left and collide with a wall. The garbage truck sustained damage to its top and front as a result. The driver was issued a ticket for driving without due care and attention. The extent of the damage to the bridge is not apparent at this time.
