Disturbance

Around 10:40pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported disturbance at the junction of Church Street and Queen Street in the City of Hamilton. On arrival officers observed a large crowd present and two men yelling at each other. As officers approached the men to find out what the disturbance was about one of the men, a 23 year old Devonshire man became hostile, using obscene language towards the officers. The Devonshire man was then informed that he was going to be arrested for using offensive words; however, as the officers attempted to handcuff him he resisted and a violent struggle took place. Captor was deployed to subdue the 23 year old, but despite this he continued to struggle. Eventually he was handcuffed, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Missiles Thrown At Police Vehicle

Around 9:30pm on Wednesday, Police were on mobile patrol in a marked Police vehicle at the junction of Curving Avenue and Rambling Lane in Pembroke when several rocks and glass bottles were thrown at the Police vehicle. The officers stopped the vehicle and conducted an area search for the culprit(s) which failed to locate them. While conducting the search, two lit Molotov cocktails were thrown at the Police vehicle; one struck a nearby wall, while the other struck the right side of the Police vehicle. However, only minor damage was caused to the Police vehicle, as the Molotov cocktail that struck the vehicle was no longer lit when it made contact. No officers were injured. A further check of the Rambling Lane area for the culprit(s) also proved unsuccessful. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Burglary

Around 8:45am on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Paget guest property. The complainants who are visitors to the island stated that sometime between 11pm on Tuesday and 7am on Wednesday, an unknown culprit gained entry into their room. The culprit stole approximately $100 in cash and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
