Handbag Snatch - Around 3:20pm on Monday September 19th, police attended a reported handbag snatch on South Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Morer Estate Road. It appears that two visitors were riding a rental cycle along South Road when two unknown men believed to be on a red motorcycle took a bag from the rental cycle’s basket. The green and blue bag contained a quantity of cash, a Sony digital camera and personal items. The suspects fled the scene on their motorcycle heading east. The visitors were not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.
Burglary Advisory
The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public to remain vigilant regarding burglaries by making sure all windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes unattended. Items that have been reported taken in recent burglaries include electronics, jewelry and cash.
We also recommend that all residents secure their valuables out of sight, record serial numbers of all items and take pictures of their possessions in particular electronic equipment and items of jewelry - so that if they are stolen and later recovered, there is an accurate way of identifying them.
