Handbag Snatch
Around 6pm on Wednesday July 6, 2011, police responded to a reported handbag snatch. It appears that two American visitors, a husband and wife, were riding a rental cycle along Stables Lane, St. George’s, when two unknown men rode up alongside them, snatched a handbag from the wife’s shoulder and rode off. The couple attempted to catch up with the suspects, but they made good their escape along Paynters Road. The visitors were not injured. The two suspects are described as being two black men in their early 20’s, riding a dark-coloured motorcycle. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information, in particular any taxi drivers who were in the Paynters Road area between 5 and 6pm that may have seen the suspects in this matter, to contact DC Jason Trott at 295-0011.
