Arrest - Around 1:10am on Tuesday, police officers were conducting a check of Snorkel Park in Dockyard when they observed an individual reportedly involved in a previous altercation at the premises. That incident occurred around 2:35am Tuesday, June 7th and involved two male cruise ship employees and a group of local men. The 22 year old man was arrested and detained in connection with the matter. Three men have already appeared in Magistrates’ Court to face charges regarding the June 7th incident. A court appearance for the 22 year old man is anticipated in due course.
Injury RTC in Smith’s Parish
Around 11pm on Monday, police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on South Road in Smith’s parish in the vicinity of John Smith’s Bay. It appears that a car and a rental cycle were traveling along South Road when they collided. The rental cycle rider, a 58 year old Smith’s parish man, was injured. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The car driver, a 71 year old woman, was not injured. The car received moderate damage while the rental cycle was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact PC Stephen Millar on 295-0011.
Injury RTC in Sandys Parish
Around 12:45pm on Monday, police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Malabar Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Cochrane Road. Details about the collision are unclear at this time; however a 19 year old Sandys parish man was injured and the auxiliary cycle he was riding was damaged. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact PC Melesia Iris on 295-0011.
Road Safety Advisory
There were 18 road traffic collisions reported to police between 7am Monday, June 27th and 7am Tuesday, June 28th – 10 resulting in injury and eight resulting in damage only.
The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.
