Assault in Sandys Parish - Around midnight on Thursday, police responded to a reported assault in the vicinity of Woody’s Bar & Restaurant in Sandys parish. The victim, a 35 year old Sandys parish man, sustained several stab wounds and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this time. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
Jet Ski Collision
Around 5:55pm on Wednesday, police responded to a reported Jet Ski collision in the waters off Daniel’s Head, Sandys parish. It appears that two female American visitors were riding on a Jet Ski when it collided with a pylon. Both victims, a 22 year old woman and her 21 year old sister, sustained leg injuries as a result. They were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The Jet Ski was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway by the Police Marine Unit.
Theft on Reid Street
Around 11:55am on Wednesday, police responded to a report of a theft outside the Bank of Butterfield on Reid Street in the City of Hamilton. It appears that the victim, a 50 year old Warwick woman, was walking along Reid Street when an unknown man grabbed the white duffle bag she was carrying and ran off. Despite the efforts of at least one member of the public in the area, the thief made good his escape with the bag as the pillion passenger of a waiting motorcycle. The victim was not injured. The duffle bag contained a quantity of cash and personal items. The main suspect is described as a 6’ tall male of slim build, wearing a white helmet with a dark coloured visor and black clothing. The second suspect (motorcycle rider) is described as also wearing black clothing and riding a dark coloured motorcycle. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011 and commend those members of the public who came to the assistance of the victim in this matter.
