Visible Police Presence for Holiday Weekend - The Bermuda Police Service will be conducting high visibility patrols throughout the island during this National Heroes Day holiday weekend. We are asking for the public’s co-operation and patience as officers will be conducting stop & searches while monitoring both marine and road traffic activity. Any offences detected will be dealt with promptly and anyone arrested can expect to remain in police custody during the holiday weekend. In addition, impaired driving will not be tolerated; please use a designated driver or other means of transportation if you plan to drink. Queen’s Birthday Parade Traffic Advisory
In connection with the Queen’s Birthday Parade on Saturday, June 18th 2011 the following traffic restrictions will be in place:
Road Closure between 4:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. - Point Pleasant Road (Albuoy's Point).
Road Closures between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon - Front Street: Court Street to Bermudiana Road as well as Burnaby Street between Reid and Front Streets.
No Parking between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon – Front Street: Court Street to Bermudiana Road. Burnaby Street: Reid and Front Streets.
No Parking between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon - No. 1 Shed Car Park and No. 5 Car Park.
In addition, the Bermuda Police Service is authorized to close-off streets or portions of streets and restrict and authorize parking as the Commissioner of Police may decide.
Arrests
A 35 year old man and a 39 year old woman were arrested Thursday on suspicion of burglary offences. Inquiries are ongoing and a court appearance is anticipated in due course.
