Counterfeit Currency Advisory - The Bermuda Police Service Financial Crime Unit is aware of counterfeit currency presently in circulation on the island, particularly Bermuda $50 and U.S. $50 notes. Businesses and individuals alike are advised to be vigilant regarding these denominations. We also ask that they take note of the individual or individuals passing the notes.
The public is encouraged to check for the incorporated security features of genuine currency such as paper quality and embedded watermarks. Anyone with any information about this matter is encouraged to contact the Financial Crime Unit on 295-0011. The public is reminded that it is a criminal offence to pass to another, possess, make or reproduce any counterfeit currency, punishable by up to five years in prison.
