Arrests for Impaired Driving - Police were stationary monitoring Crow Lane in Pembroke at 2:30am on Sunday when they observed a pillion passenger get off a motorcycle without a helmet. This resulted in the officers stopping the motorcycle and it was at this time that they noticed the male rider’s breath smelled of intoxicants. The 31 year old man was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station where he was detained after failing the alco-analyser test.

On Saturday at 3:30pm police were on mobile patrol on Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke when a motorcycle overtook the police car resulting in oncoming traffic taking evasive action in order to avoid a collision. The officers gave pursuit resulting in the motorcycle eventually stopping on Serpentine Road.  The rider, a 33 year old Warwick man, struggled to put the motorcycle on the stand and appeared unsteady on his feet. He was taken to Hamilton Police Station where he was arrested and detained.

Injury RTC in Paget

Around 9:20pm on Friday, police responded to a road traffic collision on South Road in Paget near the Botanical Gardens involving two motorcycles. It appears that both vehicles were travelling along South Road when they collided. Both riders, a 23 year old Devonshire man and a 37 year old Smith’s parish man, received non-life threatening injuries and were transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. They were later discharged.

Weekend Police Activity

Over the weekend there were 6 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Police officers also arrested 37 people for outstanding warrants and conducted 17 liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
