Confirmed Firearm Incident in Pembroke - Around 1:25am on Monday, March 7th 2011 Police responded to a report of gunshots in the area of St. Monica’s Road and The Glebe Road in Pembroke. Forensic evidence collected from the scene confirmed at least one firearm had been discharged; there were no reported injuries at the scene and subsequent inquiries at the hospital verified that no one had attended with related injuries. An active investigation into this incident is underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011 or the independent, confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477.
Witness Appeal – Fatal RTC
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the fatal road traffic collision that claimed the life of 18 year old Vershon Simmons. Around 9:30pm Saturday, March 5th 2011 Mr. Simmons was riding a motorcycle which was involved in a collision with a car on Harbour Road in Paget near the junction with Cobbs Hill Road. He was seriously injured and rushed to hospital via ambulance; however he later succumbed to his injuries. Any witnesses or anyone with information about where Mr. Simmons may have been in the hours prior to the collision is encouraged to contact PC Steven Darrell of the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.
Weekend Police Activity
Over the weekend there were 7 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Police officers also arrested 27 people for outstanding warrants and conducted 39 liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
