Disturbance on North Shore - At 3:13am on Saturday December 18th police responded to a report of a disturbance outside of a nightclub on North Shore Road in Devonshire. Upon police arrival police observed a fight that spilled out into the road in front of the nightclub, and in the course of arresting the two men that were having the fight the police were confronted by an angry crowd who attempted to obstruct the officers. As a result of the crowd one female was arrested and the two men that were fighting were also arrested. During the affray taser and captor were deployed. Two of the 3 detainees were subsequently taken to the hospital where they were treated for minor injures and then released back into the custody of the police. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Burglary

On Saturday, December 18th at 6:25am police responded to a report of a burglary at the Fairmont Southampton Golf Shop. It was ascertained that the shop’s front gate was secured a few minutes after 12am. However, at 6am a member of staff noticed that someone had gained entry into the premises and made good their escape with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police are appealing for anyone with any information to this incident to please contact the Western Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

Damage Only RTC/Impaired Driving

Police responded to a report of a minor single vehicle collision that took place at 6:10am Sunday December 18th on North Shore Road just 100 meters east of Coney Island. It appears that a car was traveling on the said road when the driver lost control of his vehicle and ended up in a ditch. As a result the 38 year old man was taken to the police station, where he was breathalized.  The 38 year old man failed the test and was processed and detained.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend 8 persons were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Police will remain vigilant over the holiday period and are reminding the motoring public that drinking and driving is a crime and punishable under the law. If you must drink get a designated driver. Police will be vigilant over the holiday period and offenders will be put before the courts.

Reported Firearm Incident

Police responded to a report of a firearm incident that took place on Sunday at 7:40pm. The complainant states that he was on the Railway Trail in Sandys in the area of the Somerset Seventh-Day Adventist Church when he was approached by 2 males on a cycle. The suspects produced what is believed to be a firearm and made demands of money. The subjects then took an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim and made good their escape. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Western Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
