Vehicle Fire - Around 5:40pm on Wednesday, Police responded to a report of a vehicle fire on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish. It appears that a taxi was traveling along North Shore Road when the vehicle began to emit sparks and smoke. The driver, a 50 year old Sandys parish man, managed to escape uninjured. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service also responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was extensively damaged; however there are no suspicious circumstances. Traffic was diverted away from the area for approximately an hour.
Update – Sudden Death at Sea
Preliminary inquiries into the sudden death at sea of a 64 year old American man were conducted by the Bermuda Police Service Marine Unit; however a full investigation into the matter is now being conducted by the United States Coast Guard.
Witness Appeal – Burglary
Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to a burglary that occurred around 9:50pm on Monday at a Cobbs Hill Road, Warwick residence resulting in the 41 year old occupant receiving serious injuries requiring overseas medical treatment. This matter is being actively investigated by officers from the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit and the Serious Crimes Unit. Advisory - Burglaries
The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the public to remain vigilant regarding burglaries. All residents should make sure The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities or individuals in their neighbourhoods to Police on 295-0011. windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes unattended, even for short periods of time. Also, before retiring to bed at night all windows & doors should be locked with any valuables secured out of sight.
