The Bermuda Police Service welcomed the seven winners of the Police Week 2010 creative artwork and short essay
competition to Police Headquarters in Prospect today. From 9am to 2pm the winning students took part in various Police related activities, giving them an idea of what it would be like to be Commissioner of Police for a day.
After approximately 100 entries from the island’s primary schools, the seven students were selected by a committee based on their age appropriate artwork and or short essays on this year’s theme ‘Bridge to the Future.’
The seven Commissioners for the day initially met with Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva, Deputy Commissioner Mike Jackman, Assistant Commissioner Paul Wright and Assistant Commissioner David Mirfield in the Bermuda Police Service boardroom at Police Headquarters before ‘heading out on patrol.’
Their tour included the following Police departments/units:
The seven also had lunch with Commissioner DeSilva and his senior officers in the Officers’ Mess. All received certificates for their outstanding entries and will be our special guests at the Beat the Retreat tonight at 8pm in St. George’s.
