Update: Confirmed Firearm Incident in Sandys parish - The 19 year old man who was shot in the firearm incident that took place a few minutes before 4pm yesterday at the junction of Middle Road and Woodlawn Road in Sandys parish was in serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with injuries to his lower torso. He has now been airlifted overseas for further medical treatment. We are continuing our appeal for witnesses; however it would be remiss of the Service if we did not take this opportunity to thank the public for their response to this incident thus far, as there has been no shortage of individuals coming forward. This is a very encouraging sign as the community is doing their part to assist the police. Anyone who can further assist in this matter is asked to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011.

Meantime, police responded to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision that took place on Middle Road, Southampton in the area of Five Star Island at 2 this morning. It appears that a 42 year old man was driving a company van when he lost control of his vehicle and drove over an embankment in the area. The man was taken to the hospital; however he did not receive any serious injuries. The van was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.
