Man Arrested in Connection with Stolen Dog - At 3:30pm on Saturday, police responded to a report of a breaking and entering that took place on Blue Hole Hill in Hamilton Parish. Upon police arrival it was ascertained that the complainant left her home at 10am only to return at 2pm to discover that someone had gained entry into her dwelling and removed a dog. A 51 year old man has been arrested in connection with this matter and the dog has been returned to its rightful owner.

Breaking Entering

Meanwhile, on Sunday a report was made at the Somerset Police Station about a breaking and entering that took place on Rockaway Drive in Southampton. The complainant states that she left her home around 7pm yesterday only to return a few hours later to find out that someone had gained entry into her dwelling and stolen an undisclosed amount of cash and a gold digital camera.  Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Advisory

Inspector Andy Morgan of the Bermuda Police Service would like to advise of a series of burglaries that have occurred recently in the eastern area. In each case, the residences have been unoccupied, but on some occasions left insecure. Small electrical goods such as iPods in addition to jewelry are mainly being taken. Residents are encouraged to secure their homes and put valuables out of sight. Inspector Morgan asks that anyone with information about these crimes is to contact the Eastern Criminal Investigation Unit at Southside Police Station on 293-2222 or if suspicious activity is seen, to call 911 immediately.
