Search Continues for Escaped Prisoner Alvone Maybury - The special task force assembled to find Alvone Maybury, consisting of 24 Police officers and 3 Prison officers, is carrying out specific actions in relation to specific leads as and when they are received. All Police officers are involved in the capture of Mr. Maybury and remain on high alert and vigilant. A number of leads are being pursued, some of which have resulted in the execution of several search warrants. A number of community sources have also been engaged to assist in this matter. The task force is using all relevant resources at their disposal including technological means to assist in recovering Mr. Maybury. It is believed that assistance is being given to Mr. Maybury to avoid detection. Upon discovery a criminal matter will be pursued against those involved.

There have been reported sightings of Mr. Maybury since his escape. The task force will continue to pursue Mr. Maybury until he is apprehended or surrenders to the authorities. Members of the public are asked not to approach Mr. Maybury; but we encourage the community to assist in bringing Mr. Maybury safely into custody by reporting any possible sightings to Police immediately, including descriptions of what he is wearing and his mode of transport. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 24 year old Alvone Maybury is encouraged to contact 295-0011 or the independent confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477. The public is reminded that harbouring a fugitive is punishable under the law by up to two years imprisonment.

Injury RTC/Impaired Driving

Around 4:45am on Saturday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Fractious Street. It appears that a car was traveling west on North Shore Road when the driver lost control. As a result the vehicle collided with a bus shelter. The driver, a 22 year old Hamilton parish man, sustained head injuries. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. His three passengers, a 20 year old Hamilton parish man, a 20 year old Devonshire woman and an 18 year old Devonshire woman were also injured and taken to hospital via ambulance for treatment. They sustained head injuries, abrasions to the forehead and left hand and abrasions to the left hand respectively. The car and bus shelter were extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
