Assault - Around 12:35am today, Police received a report of an assault at Swizzle Inn on South Road in Warwick. It appears that an altercation took place between three men at the premises. As a result the victim, a 27 year old Warwick man, received a stab wound to his back and a swollen right eye. He was taken to KEMH for treatment of his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening. The Warwick man was unable to recall how he was injured and declined to make a formal complainant.

Injury RTC/Impaired Driving

Around 8:15pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with South Road involving a motorcycle and a Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service vehicle. It appears that both vehicles were traveling east on Middle Road with the fire truck in front of the motorcycle. The fire truck slowed down and the motorcycle rider was unable to react in time and collided with the rear of the truck. The victim, a 34 year old Pembroke man, was injured and treated at the scene by EMTs before being taken to KEMH via ambulance for further medical treatment. He sustained a collapsed lung and at last check was in stable condition. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Handbag Snatch

Around 4:45pm on Thursday, Police received a report of a handbag snatch on Ord Road in Warwick near the junction with Dunscombe Road. It appears that the complainants, a 35 year old man and a 37 year old woman who are visitors to the island, were riding a rental cycle traveling west on Ord Road when an unknown man on a motorcycle rode up from behind and grabbed a beach bag from the rental cycle’s basket before accelerating away. The visitors were not injured. The bag contained electronic & personal items. The suspect is described as a black male, wearing dark coloured jeans, a dark coloured T-shirt and a black helmet with a chrome visor. He was riding a silver scooter type motorcycle. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
