Witness Appeal: Injury RTC - The 28 year old Paget man (Indian national) that sustained serious head injuries in a serious road traffic collision that occurred around 4:45am Saturday on South Road in Paget near the junction with St. Paul’s Lane involving two motorcycles has now been flown overseas to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston USA for further medical treatment. A 22 year old Devonshire man was also injured and taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time; however, it appears that the motorcycles were traveling in opposite directions when they collided. Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to this collision or anyone with any information to contact PC Elihu Holmes on 295-0011.
Impaired Operation of a Vessel
At 6:15pm on Saturday, Police responded to a report of a man suspected of operating a boat while impaired. On arrival Marine Unit officers located a vessel in Hamilton harbour and stopped it to speak with the operator. The Police officers noticed that the 25 year old Warwick man exhibited signs of being intoxicated and arrested him on suspicion of operating a vessel while impaired. The Warwick man was transported to Hamilton Police Station and detained after refusing to take the alco-analyser test. A court appearance is anticipated in the near future.
Burglary
Around 9:10pm on Friday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Tree Lane, Paget residence. The complainants stated that sometime between 7:45am and 8:20am that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into their home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a set of U.S. commemorative coins, a quantity of cash and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Around 7:05pm on Friday, Police received a report of a burglary at a White Sands Road, Paget residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 7:30am and 4:45pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home while it was unoccupied; however it appears that nothing was taken. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Weekend Activity
Over the weekend there were 3 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 4 reported burglaries. There were also 5 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 4 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 2 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
