Robbery - Around 3:20am today, Police on mobile patrol in the City of Hamilton received a report of a robbery on Front Street. It appears that around 3:10am the complainants, a 25 year old Paget man and a 24 year old UK woman, were sitting on a bench across from the Emporium Building when they were accosted by two unknown men, one brandishing a bladed article. The culprits took the female visitor’s handbag and made good their escape on foot before leaving the scene in a car. The complainants received minor injuries. Police immediately searched the area for the suspects and with the assistance of CCTV located the suspects’ vehicle outside the Pembroke Community Club. As a result the suspects, a 19 year old Devonshire man and a 25 year old Warwick man, were arrested and the female visitor’s handbag was recovered. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Sudden Death
The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 38 year old Gavin Wilkinson of Pembroke. Around 12:15pm on Thursday, Police received a report of an unresponsive man at City Hall car park in Pembroke from a member of the public. Mr. Wilkinson was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by an on call physician at 12:35pm Thursday. Foul play is not suspected; however an autopsy is anticipated. The Bermuda Police Service extends its condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.
Burglary
Around 7:30pm on Thursday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Shawn Acres Lane, Southampton residence. It appears that sometime earlier that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a black 26” Sony flat screen TV. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
