Fatal Shooting in Hamilton parish - The Bermuda Police Service will be holding a press conference at 12 noon today at the scene of the latest fatal shooting, Hamilton Parish Workman’s Club. All media are encouraged to attend.
Arrest
At 9:25am on Friday, January 1st Police were patrolling the Penno’s Wharf, St. George’s area when they observed a 44 year old St. George’s man sitting on five cases of beer. When questioned about the alcohol, the St. George’s man could not explain where he got it from or provide proof of purchasing the beer. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft and taken to Southside Police Station. He was later bailed.
At 4:55am on Saturday, January 2nd Police attended a report of prowling in the Queen Street, Chapel Lane St. George’s area. On arrival officers found the same 44 year old St. George’s man acting suspiciously outside an area residence. He was searched and found to have a bag full of bottled beer and tools. He was promptly arrested and taken to Southside Police Station where he was detained.
Police are appealing for anyone with any knowledge of where the beer found in the suspect’s possession may have come from to contact the Southside Police Station on 293-2222.
Weekend Activity
Over the New Year’s Day long weekend (midnight Friday, January 1st – midnight Monday, January 4th) there were 3 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 8 reported burglaries. There were also 12 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 4 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 2 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
