The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

During the week of Monday, December 21st – Monday, December 28th 2009 there were:

  • Reported Injury Collisions = 11
  • Reported Damage Only Collisions = 35
  • Arrests on Suspicion of Impaired Driving = 6
  • Vehicles Reported Taken Without Their Owners’ Consent = 10
  • Number of vehicles reported stolen by parish: Smith’s parish = 1, Pembroke = 4, Warwick = 2, Southampton = 2 and Sandys parish = 1.

Most of the vehicles removed were either auxiliary cycles or motorcycles, with 1 car also reported stolen during the period. Of the 10 vehicles reported stolen, 1 was subsequently recovered (the car).

Injury RTC

Around 1am on Monday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Tee Street and Middle Road in Devonshire. It appears that an auxiliary cycle was traveling north on Tee Street when the rider, a 22 year old Devonshire woman, lost control at the junction. The Devonshire woman sustained a broken left leg. She was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The auxiliary cycle received moderate damage.
