Sudden Death - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 64 year old Stephen Perinchief of Southampton. At 6:50pm on Friday, Police received a report of a sudden death at a Lighthouse Lane, Southampton residence. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service also attended the scene. Mr. Perinchief was found in an unresponsive state inside his home by a family member. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by an on call physician at 8:15pm. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing. The cause of death has not been determined and an autopsy will be carried out to assist in determining the cause of death. The Bermuda Police Service extends sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.

Injury RTC

Around 2:25pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Middle Road and Vesey Street in Devonshire involving two motorcycles. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear; however it appears one of the motorcycles was traveling west on Middle Road when the vehicles collided. The rider of that motorcycle, a 28 year old Devonshire man, sustained serious head injuries. The rider of the other motorcycle, an 18 year old Devonshire man, is also believed to have sustained serious head injuries as well as shoulder and leg injuries. Both men were taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. Both motorcycles were extensively damaged and subsequently impounded by Police. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.

Fire

At 9:10pm on Saturday, Police received a report of a fire on White’s Island. The Police Marine Unit attended the scene a short time later with Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel who eventually extinguished the blaze. It appears that the fire was ignited as a result of sparks from a fireworks display.

Injury RTC/Impaired Driving

Around 11:20am today, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of North Shore Road and Barkers Hill in Devonshire. It appears that a jeep was traveling west on North Shore Road when the driver, a 66 year old Pembroke man lost control and collided with a wall, causing the vehicle to overturn. The Pembroke man sustained abrasions to his body and was taken to KEMH, treated and released. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained after failing the alco-analyser test. The jeep was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
