Suspicious Object - At 3:40am on Sunday, Police received a report of a suspicious object at Somerset Cricket Club grounds. Officers were already at the scene monitoring patrons leaving a function at the premises when they heard a loud noise and saw smoke. Officers located the source of the blast and discovered a suspected home-made explosive device in a courtyard area. The simple device consisted of a plastic bottle containing a liquid substance. No one was injured. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service also attended the scene. The offending item was seized for further analysis. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Burglary

Around 6:30pm on Friday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Suffering Lane, St. George’s residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 7:30am and 6:20pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied; however, it doesn’t appear that anything was taken. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 6:15pm on Friday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Clarke’s Hill, St. George’s residence. The complainants stated that sometime between 7:05am and 5:55pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into their home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of jewelry and cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 2 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 7 reported burglaries. There were also 12 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 9 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 8 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
