Around 7:30am on Monday, Police attended a report of a car overboard in the Penhurst Park, Devonshire area. On arrival officers observed the car, a silver Opel Astra, submerged. The Marine Police Unit attended a short time later and confirmed that no one was trapped inside the vehicle. The car was subsequently removed from the water by crane.
Burglary
Around 6:30pm on Monday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Valley Heights Road, Devonshire residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 12:45pm and 6:20pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of jewelry, a silver Kodak digital camera, an Apple laptop computer, a Sony PlayStation with two controllers and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Traffic Advisory
The Bermuda Police Service would like the motoring public to be aware that they may experience delays this afternoon as Shaki Crockwells funeral procession makes its way from Pembroke to St. Georges; specifically in the area around the Seventh Day Adventist Church on King Street in Pembroke, as well as Victoria Street and Church Street. The Police Traffic Unit will be on hand to monitor traffic during the procession. We are also asking all motorists to obey any instructions given by the traffic officers and to adhere to the rules of the road as usual.
Weekend Activity
Over the Labour Day holiday weekend there was 1 person arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 15 reported burglaries (5 in Pembroke, 2 in Devonshire, 3 in Southampton, 2 in Hamilton parish, 1 in Paget and 2 in Warwick). There were also 17 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 12 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 7 vehicles reported taken without their owners consent.
