Arrest for Throwing Objects

Around 8:15pm on Wednesday, Police were on mobile patrol in a marked Police vehicle traveling east along Middle Road in Sandys parish when officers observed approximately 6 youth throwing objects at a taxi. When the group of youths saw the Police, they ran in different directions, with Police giving chase. One of the youths, a 16 year old young man from St. Georges, was pursued on to White Hill Lane where he was apprehended. He was then arrested, taken to Somerset Police Station and detained. It appears there was no damage done to the taxi and the driver, a 42 year old Southampton woman, was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Halloween Activity

The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their co-operation over Halloween as there were no significant incidents reported. However, from 7am Wednesday, October 31st to 7am Thursday, November 1st there were 5 reported incidents of objects thrown at Police, 2 reported incidents of objects thrown at residences and 28 reported incidents of objects thrown at vehicles.

Advisory – Loud Auxiliary Cycles/Motorcycles

The Bermuda Police Service would like to warn all auxiliary cycle and motorcycle riders/owners that starting Monday, November 5th, officers from the Road Policing Unit (Traffic Unit) will be on the lookout for cycles with defective mufflers as well as cycles with loud mufflers. Any cycles found with loud/defective mufflers will be impounded by Police and taken to TCD for testing. Only once the cycle has passed the TCD ‘noise chamber will the vehicle be allowed back on the road.
