Chief Inspector Peter Stableford, Officer in Charge, Serious Crime Unit – “About 9:00pm last evening (Tuesday, 31st August) Daquan Williams handed himself in at Southside Police Station where he was arrested.
We recognise the impact and fear these shootings bring to the community and the Bermuda Police Service is dedicated to ensuring those responsible are brought to justice as soon as possible.
We will always need the assistance of the public and appreciate the response we have received, without which we cannot help bring the closure needed for so many families and victims.
The investigation into last Friday’s shooting in St. David’s continues and we will update further as soon as we are able.”
Update: Daquan Williams Taken Into Police Custody - The Bermuda Police Service can confirm that 25 year old Daquan Williams was taken into police custody this evening (Tuesday, 31st August) following a public appeal regarding his whereabouts yesterday (Monday, 30th August).
As a result, a further update on the investigation into the recent Orange Hole Hill, St. David’s shooting that left a 22 year old man hospitalised with non-life threatening injuries is expected tomorrow, Wednesday 1st September.
Monday, 30th August: Chief Inspector Peter Stableford of the Serious Crime Unit - “I would like to provide an update on the shooting which occurred shortly after 5:00pm on Friday 27th August 2021 at Orange Hole Hill in St. David’s.
A 22-year-old young man was shot several times sustaining injuries to his arms and abdomen – I can confirm the injuries are not life threatening but he remains in hospital at this time.
One male has already been arrested in connection with this incident and remains in police custody.
We are interested in anyone who was in the area of Southside Road, Tommy Fox Road and Orange Hole Hill between 4.30 pm and 7.00 pm to get in touch if they saw anything suspicious.
Anyone driving who may have dash cam footage or a home camera looking onto the street to have a look at what they have and get in touch.
I am appealing for the public’s assistance in locating a second person we wish to speak to called Daquan “Smokey” Williams (pictured). Daquan is 25 years old and from the St. George’s area.
I must emphasize the public should not approach Daquan but if he is seen call 911 immediately.
