Around 5:45am on Wednesday, January 7th first responders attended a reported two vehicle collision that resulted in serious injury on South Road in Paget near the junction with Tribe Road No. 4B. It appears that two motorcycles were travelling in opposite directions when they collided.
Both injured riders, a 22 year old Warwick man and a 69 year old Devonshire man, were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
At last check the Warwick man was listed in critical condition at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit while the Devonshire man was apparently in stable condition with an arm injury.
Inquiries are ongoing and police are appealing for persons who may have witnessed this collision to contact Constable Stephen Clyke at the main police telephone number 295-0011.
Positive Response to Witness Appeals Regarding Serious Collisions
The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance regarding witness appeals to recent fatal and serious collisions – particularly our last appeal for a ‘critical witness’ in the most recent road traffic fatality collision, who has come forward.
We would like to commend everyone who has come forward to date, as the information they provide can prove invaluable in investigating these incidents.
Ongoing Scam Advisory: Fraudulent ‘Computer Assistance’ Calls
Once again the Bermuda Police Service would like to remind members of the public to remain vigilant regarding phone calls, e-mails and other correspondence from unknown persons that attempt to obtain personal information or other sensitive data.
In a recent reported instance, the call apparently originated from Barbados, with the unknown caller offering to help the local recipient with alleged glitches reportedly affecting their home computer. It is strongly recommended that any similar unsolicited communication be ignored.
Residents are advised that personal information regarding accessing their home computer(s) is valuable and that this information should never be relayed over the internet or phone to unknown persons. Any incidents of suspected internet fraud should be reported to the Financial Crime Unit on telephone number 247-1757 or via the e-mail address fraud2@bps.bm.
