Two Men Injured In Warwick Shooting - Around 9:15pm on Tuesday 20th November 2012, police officers responded to reports of gunshots in the Khyber Heights Lane, Warwick area. Initial inquiries revealed that two men from Pembroke parish attended the area on a motorcycle and an altercation occurred. Both Pembroke men aged 19 and 20 years sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank all members of the public that assisted the victims after they were shot and injured. On arrival police officers assisted with providing first aid to the victims, in addition to locating and securing the crime scene for collection of possible evidence. A number of area residents and potential witnesses were also spoken to by police in an attempt to better ascertain the circumstances of the shootings as well as provide community reassurance.

Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit are conducting a full investigation into this confirmed firearm incident and have not ruled out the possibility that it may be gang related. Any witnesses or persons with any information, particularly anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Khyber Heights Lane, Warwick area around the time of the shooting, is encouraged to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 247-1739 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.

Man Arrested With Suspected Stolen Liquor

Around 11pm on Tuesday November 20th, police officers on mobile patrol in the area of Astwood Park in Warwick came upon a man who was acting suspiciously. As a result the man was searched and reportedly found to have a large quantity of bottled liquor in a white bag. He was then arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station where he was processed and detained pending further inquiries.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have had a quantity of liquor stolen from their home or business recently and can verify the type of alcohol taken to contact the main police number on 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity.
