Police Advisory to Berkeley, CedarBridge Students

The Bermuda Police Service is requesting that students from both Berkeley Institute and CedarBridge Academy go directly home after their exams today. We recognize both schools are now under an exam schedule and a number of students may not be in school; however we are acting in an abundance of caution after a number of reported fights between students from both schools apparently took place earlier today around the City of Hamilton. We believe this proactive step will curb any further incidents. Meanwhile the police Community Action Teams have been liaising with both schools to determine the best way forward for the rest of the school year.

Visitors Treated at Hospital & Discharged After Rental Cycle Collision

Around 11:55am on Wednesday, June 17th first responders attended a reported serious single vehicle rental cycle collision on Somerset Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Mangrove Bay Road.

Initial details were limited; however it now appears that a rental cycle being ridden out of Dockyard clipped a wall resulting in the rider, a 64 year old man and his wife, a 63 year old woman, being injured. At the scene the male visitor appeared to have sustained serious head injuries, while the female visitor apparently had less serious injuries.

The couple was taken via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where the male visitor’s injuries were apparently determined to be less serious than originally believed. Therefore after receiving treatment, the visitors were later discharged.
