Collision in Hamilton Parish - Around 8:15am on Tuesday, July 16th police and first responders attended a reported two vehicle collision on Harrington Sound Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Quarry Road. It appears that a motorcycle was being ridden along Harrington Sound Road and a car was exiting the driveway of an area residence when the vehicles collided.
The motorcycle rider, a 25 year old Devonshire man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. His injuries are not considered to be life threatening. There were no other injuries reported and both vehicles were damaged, the motorcycle extensively. Traffic was temporarily diverted away from the scene but has since resumed traveling through the area. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing and any witnesses are encouraged to contact PC Romeo Allen on 295-0011.
Traffic Advisory: 2013 NatWest Island Games Cycling Criterium
The motoring public is advised that at 6:30pm on Thursday, July 18th the NatWest Island Games cycling criterium will take place on the streets of the City of Hamilton. As a result, the following roads will be closed to facilitate this event:
In addition, the junction of Court Street and Reid Street will be restricted to one lane; however traffic will be allowed to turn right only and travel north on Court Street from the junction.
Traffic traveling into the City of Hamilton along Crow Lane will be required to travel up Spurling Hill.
Barriers and signage will be in place warning motorists of these road closures and diversions. Police officers will also assist with traffic control at the major junctions and marshals will be posted along the race course to ensure the route is kept clear of unauthorised vehicles.
